Kathleen
Kobashi, MD, is Section Head of Urology and Renal
Transplantation at Virginia Mason, Co-Director
of the Continence Center, Director of the VM Clinical
Fellowship in Voiding Dysfunction and Pelvic Floor
Reconstruction and Clinical Associate Professor
of Urology at the University of Washington, in
Seattle.
Dr.
Kobashi completed her undergraduate work at Wellesley
College, in Massachusetts, followed by medical
school at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia,
PA, and a urology residency at the University
of California, Irvine. She then completed a fellowship
in voiding dysfunction and pelvic floor reconstruction
at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, CA. |
| Dr.
Kobashi has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed
articles, 15 book chapters, and more than 100
abstracts on subjects related to the treatment
of urinary incontinence and pelvic prolapse. She
is a reviewer for multiple highly regarded clinical
journals and serves on the editorial board of
Issues in Urology. Over the past nine years, Dr.
Kobashi has been involved in multi-center clinical
research, with a current focus on pelvic floor
health. She has presented her work at numerous
national and international meetings, and moderated
many expert panels. "I feel very fortunate
to have minimally invasive tools available to
help us restore continence and confidence to our
patients," Dr. Kobashi notes. "It is
a tremendous privilege to help patients return
to the full enjoyment of their lives."
Dr. Kobashi is President Elect
of the Washington State Urologic Society. She
has served as program chair for the Northwest
Urological Society (NWUS) and on the program committee
for the Western Section of the American Urological
Association (WSAUA). She also serves on the executive
board for the Society for Urodynamics and Female
Urology, and is a member of numerous national
and international societies. Dr. Kobashi was named
as one of Seattle's top doctors in 2005, 2006
and 2007, and received the Continence Care Champion
award from the National Association for Continence
in 2006.
